Haven, a safe place for students to speak, voice their opinions, and ask questions, will be returning to Niles North this Wednesday and Thursday, during periods 5, 6, and 7, to discuss the topic of race in the North Star room (rm. 1335). Registration is required.
During period 5 on Wednesday and Thursday, Mr. Haberl will lead a discussion on Richard Sherman, a Seattle Seahawks cornerback, and how he, and the events surrounding him before their Super Bowl victory, impacted people’s views on America.
During period 6 on Wednesday and Thursday, students from BSU will share their stories on racial discrimination from notable events and their own lives. Mr. Tyson, Ms. Nemo, and Ms. Penn will be there to guide and listen to an open discussion about racial discrimination.
During period 7 on Wednesday and Thursday, students can discuss what it’s like to be themselves at Niles North and if racial barriers are at Niles North or not. Students can come and discuss their thoughts with students from BSU and teachers Mr. Tyson, Ms. Nemo, Ms. Penn, Ms. Ordoñez, and Mr. Silverberg.
