Deciding where to go on Valentine’s Day is always hard. Do you go to a restaurant, a movie, or just hang out at home? Here are some suggestions for what you and your valentine could do:
Restaurants:
Restaurants are always a good place to go to on Valentine’s Day, if you and your valentine enjoy food and talking. They provide a comforting feel and good food, and who doesn’t enjoy good food?
Aki Hana: This sushi restaurant is based out of Wilmette and has high quality sushi and other Japanese foods at good prices. If you and you’re valentine enjoy anything from ramen, tempura, teriyaki, to sushi, you will both enjoy Aki Hana. For more information visit: http://www.akaihanasushi.com/home
Cheesecake Factory: Located right across from Niles North, in Westfield Mall, is the Cheesecake Factory. Known for its pasta and (of course) cheesecake, Cheesecake Factory is the perfect place to take your Valentine if you want good service and excellent food. California Pizza Kitchen: This pizza and pasta restaurant is located in Westfield Old Orchard Mall. Their menu features crazy pizza selections (such as their new hand tossed salad pizza) that will give you and your valentine something to enjoy. On Valentine’s Day they are having their $30 special for two, which includes one appetizer, two entrees, and one desert. For more information visit: http://www.cpk.com/
Movies:
Going to a movie is always a good date idea, especially on Valentine’s Day. You and your valentine could even enjoy going to a movie and then go out to a restaurant.
Endless Love: Being released on Valentine’s Day, Endless love is about Jade Butterfield, a sheltered teen, who falls in love with Dave Elliot, a boy with a broken past, after high school graduation. But, when Jade’s father finds out he quickly disapproves and when Dave’s father finds out he says to go about it with a lot of caution. Their parent’s disapproval causes them to become more determined to pursue their relationship.
Endless Love would be a good movie to take your valentine to if you, or they, enjoy romance dramas. Though, as it is coming out on Valentine’s Day, I would suggest that you order your tickets ahead of time to cut through the ticket lines, and make sure you get a seat.
RoboCop: If you and your valentine are not into romantic movies then RoboCop would be a good movie to see. RoboCop, released of Feb. 12, is about Alex Murphy, who gets injured in battle, and is turned into part man, part robot police officer. OmniCorp, the company who made him, envisions a world (year 2028) filled with RoboCops, but they have forgotten one thing: there is a man in there as well as a machine.
Staying at home:
When staying at home with your valentine on Valentine’s Day you have to be careful to plan things that are not going to be boring to either one of you. Sure, watching your favorite movie, with your valentine, for the tenth time can be fun, but you should do something special for Valentine’s Day.
Cook together: Go and have some fun, make a mess, and make some great homemade food when you cook together. Here at NorthStar we suggest that you make your own Valentine’s Day Oreo Truffles (the recipe: https://www.northstarnews.org/features/valentines-day-recipe-oreo-truffles/ ), but some other ideas can be making homemade heart shaped, or not, pizzas or cookies.
Movie/TV show marathon: Pick some movies or a TV show that both you and your valentine enjoy and sit back, relax, and eat the Valentine’s Day treats you made earlier when you cooked together.
So, there you have it, seven ideas for how you and your valentine can spend Valentine’s Day.
