The fourth annual pizza wars was a huge success. The Niles West gym was jammed with hungry pizza lovers and delicious local venders. Lou Malnati’s, Giordanos, Gullivers, Jets, Papa Johns, Village Inn, Organic Life, Barnaby’s, Wa-Pa-Ghetti’s, and my personal favorite of the night, Father and Son Italian Kitchen, all came out to defend their pizza as the best in town!
Now I know what you’re thinking, how could anything ever be as delicious as Lou’s deep dish or Village Inn’s super thin crust? Well, you just haven’t tried the delicious dessert pizzas that Father and Son had to offer. They were sampling sweet apple and tart cranberry-blueberry pizzas along with your basics.
I was very impressed at how Father and Son didn’t just offer your basic cheese and pepperoni, although they did those justice as well. They went out of the box by trying out these intricate fruit pizzas. Now you can eat pizza for breakfast, lunch, dinner, AND dessert! It’s a pizza lover’s dream come true. I never knew a fruity and sweet pizza would be so appetizing… until I went back for thirds.
Although the actual winner of the night was Village Inn, who overtook the community’s votes with their cheesy perfection, my vote definitely belonged to Father and Son.
