The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, directed by Ben Stiller, is one of the most beautifully directed films that I’ve seen in a while. There are several scenes in which all you can do is stop, stare, and think to yourself, wow I wish I was there right now.The exact moment that comes to mind is when Walter (Ben Stiller) is zooming down a long winding road on a longboard in the middle of Iceland. The cinematography in certain scenes are mind-altering. The setting of the story is in the headquarters of LIFE magazine, as well as several other places around the world.
I give this film 5/5 North Stars. This movie shows you how taking chances in your everyday life will get you far. You should stop daydreaming about what you want to do and seize the moment. The movie revolves around the quote, “To see things thousands of miles away, things hidden behind walls and within rooms, things dangerous to come to, to draw closer, to see and be amazed”. It’s a good motto, you should try it sometime.
Let’s not overlook the amazing performance by Ben Stiller. Not only did he do a fantastic job acting and looking like a total fox, he also directed the film! I would say it is one of his best productions yet, and we should be on the look-out for more of his talents and upcoming projects.
After watching the Golden Globe Awards a few days ago, I was very surprised that Walter Mitty was not nominated for anything. Hopefully the film has an Oscar coming its way. It definitely deserves one.
If you haven’t seen this film, I’ll pick you up, buy your ticket and see it again with you because it is just that fabulous.
