It’s that time of the year again, and I’m sure everyone has heard at least one christmas song by now. For some of the lucky people, you have been hearing christmas music ever since Thanksgiving. Personally, I don’t mind the music; I just mind that every radio station plays holiday songs almost at a non-stop rate. A little bit here or there is good for the spirit of the holiday season, but when you start playing it constantly, it almost makes the holidays a little less jolly.
There’s a saying that, “anything good should be taken in moderation.” That is very true especially for holiday music. Once you have listened to a song, unless you really like the song, it starts to become old and dull. I love Christmas music, and there is nothing like a nice tune to keep me in high spirits come the actual holiday, but when it comes to listening to it on the radio all day, it gets extremely annoying.
As for the yearly holiday music, the ones that the artists do every year around this time in order to boost up hype for the up-and-coming album, those songs/albums usually aren’t that bad. Sometimes, they are good enough to keep around for a while.
Holiday music need to be played in moderation. But besides that, I can’t wait for the holidays!
Happy holidays, Niles North!
