Thor: The Dark World

Thor%3A+The+Dark+World

Thor: The Dark World premiered on November 8th. The movie begins with background information on the Aether, the wars going on, and the discussion of Thor becoming the king of Asgard. There are a lot of great scenes where the main characters come into conflict with each other and lots of unforeseen events occur.

The sequel is synced with the first film from the start as they talk about Thor and his brother, Loki, along with the family overall and what will happen to them. You won’t miss out on too much if you haven’t watched the first film. There were also good humor scenes that brought elements of Captain America into the movie, and since it’s a Marvel movie, it brings a little comedy into the rather dark film.

I give Thor: The Dark World a rating of 4.5/5 North Stars. Overall, it was a good movie as it incorporated action and comedy, which was a nice surprise. The cons of the movie are its plot holes and the slow paced intro. It spent quite a bit of time talking about the Aether and how Thor is going to become king, and we have to wait until about a quarter of the movie for the action to begin and lots of twists to come into play. The plot holes weren’t too noticeable unless you thought about it more; some events were totally preventable but added more conflict to the film.

Towards the end of the movie, the conflicts within the family began and there was a huge twist with Thor, his father Odin, and Loki. They made Loki look innocent and loyal but there where giveaways that gave you insight on what his actions were really about. The very last scene shocked me. The extra post-movie scene they played after the credits offered a teaser into the next Thor (if it ends up being made).

I would recommend watching Thor: The Dark World because it was a great movie. I enjoyed it more than Captain America and Superman personally. It was a gritty action packed movie that gave suspense to the viewers along with lots of crazy scenes and twists to the plot which made it more interesting. The plot was easy to follow and wasn’t predictable unless if it was meant to be in regards to Loki’s scenes. Go watch Thor when you get the chance!
