NN Library prepares for a skele-ton of fun this October

Niles North Library is gearing up for an eventful October with many fun activities to keep students in the Halloween spirit, including a pumpkin painting activity on October 27, during all periods of the school day.

Alos, the Book Club, held every Tuesday in the library classroom, is currently reading Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas. Cemetery Boys follows the story of a transgender boy, Yadriel, who sets out to find the ghost of his cousin who was murdered. Yadriel accidentally ends up summoning the ghost of the school’s bad boy, Julian, who wants to find out who killed him. Yadriel and Julian must work together to get what they want and end up finding they may have more in common than they think. Anyone interested in attending Book Club is encouraged to read the book and drop into their meeting on November 1 to discuss.

This month, the librarians will also take a trip to the Japanese bookstore Kinokuniya at the end of the month to pick up some new manga for their collection. If you have any requests for manga, email librarian Caitlyn Greener ([email protected]) by October 27.

The Library will also be hosting a special effects makeup workshop on October 31, taking place during all periods of the school day.

Another way the Library is fostering student feedback is by accepting ideas from students on the upcoming library remodel. On November 2, architects will offer an opportunity in the Library South Classroom to hear student suggestions on what they want to see in the new library.
