For soccer fans, Messi and Ronaldo have dominated the soccer world for decades. As they move on with their careers, fans are always looking for new talent. A young Norwegian striker, Erling Braut Haaland, brings just that.

Haaland is the middle child of 3. Born in Leeds, England, on March 21st, 2000 when his dad, Alf-Inge Haaland, was playing for Leeds United in the Premier League. He was born into soccer. His dad played in the Premier League for clubs like Nottingham Forest, Leeds United, and Manchester City. His dad was a defender and midfielder until he suffered an injury in the Manchester derby against Manchester United. Alf-Inge managed to get eighteen goals and thirty-six clean sheets in his 181 appearances in the Premier League. premierleague.com

As a young kid Haaland was an energetic kid who loved the sport of soccer. He began playing in a club at the age of 6. There he decided he was going to be the best soccer player in the world. He dedicated his life to soccer and went to a local team, Bryne Fotballklubb. He was determined to do anything and worked hard on the field and in the gym. He made the first team at the age of 15, in May 2016. Not long after the Norweigan club Molde was looking to scout the young talent. sportsmob.com

It wasn’t long after that that new teams were hungry to get this kid in their club. Haaland, however, didn’t sign to any of the big clubs, like Juventus and Leverkusen, that were giving him deals. He didn’t see those deals as opportunities, he saw them as his downfall. He decided to join RB Salzburg, where he saw he could really shine. While at Salzburg, Haaland also played for the Norwegian U-20 team for the U-20 World Cup. In a game against Honduras, Haaland managed to pull away with nine goals. He then went on a hat trick spree, starting off with a game against SC-ESV. He then went on to get two more hat tricks in the Australian Bundesliga.

In Haaland’s UEFA Champions League debut, he went and scored three times against Genk, gaining his team the win and making him one of the youngest players to score a hat trick in the Champions League. Ever since then his record in the Champions League has been sensational. Ten goals in the 19/20 Champions League season. Now the top scorer in the 20/21 Champions League season, with ten goals, with his most recent club Borussia Dortmund. His talent also shines in the Bundesliga, with twenty-one goals in twenty-one appearances. Haaland Stats

Fans of soccer rival him up with 21 year old Kylian Mbappe, a french striker who plays for Paris Saint German. Kylian has also made a name for himself in the soccer world. He won the World Cup, the most prestigious trophy in soccer, with his national team France. He was a finalist in the 19/20 Champions League. Losing to Bayern Munich in the finals. He’s a great youngster just like Haaland.

“When I saw Mbappe score the hat trick.. I got motivation, so thanks to him.” Haaland said in a post interview match after scoring two goals against Sevilla in the Champions League. These two players have the potential to be the greatest of the next generation, maybe of all time. Some say they remind fans of Messi and Ronaldo’s rivalry. Haaland and Mbappe are the faces of the next generation of soccer. New talent that will make games interesting, and make fans interested.
