On September 20, a few thousand people from all over the world and in the US showed up to Area 51 to “See them aliens.”

What originally started off as a joke on Facebook by Matty Roberts exploded into multiple gatherings near Area 51. Events like Alienstock and the Storm Area 51 bootcamp hosted music and parties for alien enthusiasts to come on down.

In addition there were a few people who were arrested that tried to get close to Area 51 for crimes and were charged with disorderly conduct, including one person who was treated for dehydration.

Among them were two Dutch YouTubers: Ties Granzier, 20, and Govert Charles Wilhelmus Jacob Sweep, 21 who got 3 miles deep into the Nevada National Security Site. On the next day they were both sentenced to a year in jail. Until the sentence was suspended and were giving three days in jail and each had to pay a fine of $2,280.
