Niles North Observed Hispanic Heritage Month, from September 15 – October 15, North Star News covered different topics and and aspects of the Hispanic Culture, such as toys, food, cultural cloths and Influential Hispanic Leaders.

The Hispanic Culture has many toys that they grow up playing with. Some of these toys are El Trompos, Lis Tieres, La Laretia, La Muñeca De Trappes, Indigenous Dolls, and Instruments. El Trompos are the Latino version of tops, they’re usually color full and come with a string that is wrapped around the top. The Trompo or top is then positioned; the string is let go of, boom goes the El Trompo. Indigenous Dolls are also a huge part of the Hispanic Culture.

Like all cultures the Hispanic Culture has its cultural/indigenous clothing. Hispanic wear is very colorful and culture embarrassing. People in Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and many other Hispanic countries still dress indogenously everyday.

Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta were two of the most influential Hispanic Leaders, Chavez and Huerta founded the Workers Association in the 60’s. Chavez and Huerta’s work was very encouraging for farmers and help them eventually achieve justice.
