Put on your glass slippers and make sure your pumpkin carriage is available on Oct. 14, because the theme for 2017 Niles North Homecoming dance is set. This years dance will be themed after fairy tales and will be called “Once Upon A Homecoming,” a fitting name for a night as magical as the Homecoming dance. Students are encouraged to wear any school appropriate clothes and costumes that relate to fairy tales. The dance will make all your wishes come true on the night of Saturday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m in the main gym.

“Once Upon A Homecoming” won a student vote that was sent via email, and was chosen over two other potential themes. The unsuccessful challengers to “Once Upon A Homecoming” were the Wizard of Oz themed “There’s No Place Like Homecoming,” and a 1990’s themed “This Is How We Do Homecoming.”

Many Niles North students were happy with their peers for choosing their preferred theme, and are excited to live out their personal fairy tales at the dance.

“I think Disney movies and fairytales are kind of universally loved things, so it makes sense that our Homecoming dance will be Once Upon A Homecoming.” Kathryn Gomez, junior, said.

On the other hand, some are dissatisfied with the theme, with a vocal minority in support of the 90’s theme.

“I think this theme is decent, but I personally voted for the ‘90s theme. I think seeing everyone in all the clothes from that time would have been hilarious.” Jon Cohan, junior, said.

Whether your favorite theme was chosen or not, make sure to come to the main gym on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. Tickets will cost $20 if you buy in advance and $30 at the door.
